Join the Rolland Center for Lincoln Research on Zoom at 2:30 pm ET on Friday, February 28, 2025, to explore the Abolitionist Movement in the United States leading up to the Civil War. From the nation’s inception, Black Americans petitioned, advocated, and fought for their freedom. Learn about leaders in the abolitionist movement, such as Frederick Douglass and William Lloyd Garrison, see how Black abolitionists fought for not only their freedom but also their rights as Americans, and discover how the movement hauled the nation down the road to emancipation.

Abbie Meek, MLIS, is a Senior Lincoln Librarian at the Rolland Center for Lincoln Research in the Allen County Public Library, and has been passionate about history for over a decade. Abbie collaborates in managing the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection, leading guided tours, curating engaging exhibits, creating educational resources, and inspiring inquiring minds explore the renowned collection to discover Abraham Lincoln’s life and times.
