I would put care, cooperation, selflessness, wisdom, bravery, and effort as life skills.

In my mixed media piece “Morning” I put to use the life skill of resourcefulness from Abraham Lincoln. My artwork is made from plastic bags and packaging. Often, people do not realize how much plastic they throw away, such as food packaging, grocery bags, and newspaper bags. This plastic usually ends up in our landfills. I wanted to create art from something that is normally thrown away. Creating art from plastic does not require expensive materials, and results in an interesting and durable artwork. Similarly, the reusing of plastic is resourceful like Lincoln was as a young boy in a poor family. Also, “Morning” represents new hope and opportunity, which Lincoln offered our country.

This drawing is showing Lincoln being brave and making a speech about slavery and stopping it. He was brave because a lot of people disregard but he still fought for it so I made a drawing of him giving that speech.
Victor Goings
Patience is the life skill being displayed in this drawing as Lincoln calmly sits down in his desk with a stack of papers to his right.

I drew this picture to represent old pictures and frames. I started by sketching the head then I worked on the head hair and the facial hair then deeply colored it black and the skin tan. Then I drew a suit with red bow. And then a grey black ground and brown picture frame.

For his life skills I did humor because not many people probably know that Abraham Lincoln has a sense of humor. At the bottom of the picture there is a crowd that’s laughing to show that he’s doing stand up comedy. I also made his face look like a cartoon and made his head big and his body small to make the picture more fun. He also has a microphone to support the fact that he’s doing stand up comedy.

My sculpture shows caring, effort, truth, and wisdom. The quote I chose is a wise quote that shows he put effort into what he said and he cares.
Ladarius Stinson
I did this because it was challenging to me.

This drawing shows how the war ended when Robert E. Lee surrendered. And how Abraham Lincoln is preserved the union during the U.S. Civil War and brought about the emancipation of slaves.

This artwork is a great reminder of the loving and caring Abraham Lincoln. He was known for being kind and fair. He was in the army for 30 days and never had to fight. Issuing the Emancipation Proclamation that declared forever those slave within the Confederacy in 1863. We are very thankful for having our 16th President in 1861 of the United States.
Jubbar Jefferson
My life skill that I did was caring because Lincoln cared a lot for others. I put broken chains on his arms because he helped stop slavery. I did drawing because I like to draw and it was simple.
Emma Engquist
The two life skills I modeled were humor and flexibility. The funny part about this how literally the term “flexibility” is taken. I chose these skills because they were the ones that stuck out the most. When I read through the list, those were the ones that made an idea pop into my head.
Khalilah Collins
The life skill I used was trust because Abraham Lincoln was a good and worthy person. So I decided to paint him and the American flag behind him.
Emily Hargrove
The life skill I chose to represent was perseverance. He ran for president two times, lost his job, and many other things. But eventually, he got elected in 1860. In order to achieve his goals, he had a nervous breakdown, so that proves its not easy to do what he did. Overall I chose this life skill because Abraham Lincoln has many perfect examples of how he persevered through life.
Ma Aye Aye
The life skill I used was caring from Lincoln and turned it into art. When Lincoln was the president he helped free the slaves. This was a very caring and kind thing to do because he thought that everybody should have their rights because this is a free country. In a quote he said “Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves.” I think that is very true because if you want freedom for yourself you should give it to others too or else you shouldn’t have it yourself either. To sum up, my piece of art shows Lincoln hugging a slave boy because he is showing that he doesn’t separate colors and cares about everybody’s freedom.
Jeyda Nguyen
The life skill I used for this piece was perseverance. Lincoln is able to stay motivated though everything. He helps others and gives meaningful advice in his quotes. I included one of his quotes because it really shows how his mindset is. He doesn’t give up and knows how to handle things. I drew the flowers over his head because this symbolizes how positive and pure he thinks.
Ludim Moran
My art piece is about Abraham Lincoln having the responsibility of taking care of the United States.
Isabel Alfaro
The life skill from Lincoln that I used to create this piece was effort. The quote in my piece,” the best way to predict your future is to create it,” was from Abraham Lincoln. I believe this quote related to effort because to see your future, you must make the effort to do things today to make your future what you want to see. I also used effort in creating the actual piece. I used several new materials and processes that I hadn’t used before in a submitted are piece like watercolor and rubber cement. I used watercolor to paint the stripes and blue square. I used rubber cement to create the white spots to represent the stars on the flag during 1861. I have not worked with these materials for a long time and I think the piece came out pretty well because of my effort.
Logan Demarco
I chose cooperation because he had to make decisions with the court. Abraham Lincoln could have negotiated with Robert E. Lee instead of having a war between the Union and the Confederates. I also chose to include where both men grew up and what side they were on. You can see the states Kentucky and Virginia between them.
Byron Escobar
I chose this life skill because in the chaos he cooperated with the people. He helped out when the place was in chaos. And he helped people get through the chaos and keep order in the north.
Brody Odier
I choose responsibility for my piece because I felt like Lincoln was one of the most responsible people in this world. I put him on a stage and made him say one of his quotes. I choose this quote because it really speaks to me. Overall I like what I did with my artwork.
RJ Simmons
My life skill was caring and freedom. The broken shackles means that slaves are free and should always be free and that everybody is equal.
Kieran Stockman
The life skill modeled by my art is “perseverance.” That life skill is represented by the chains, they encased all so many people in their crushing grasp, yet he persevered and broke them. He must have been very afraid, yet he still persevered and overcame those fears. He didn’t have to run for president and face all the hate he received for what he did, but he persevered and he did. Everything he did required a great amount of bravery and perseverance, and he did so beautiful.
Treyon Weakley
The life skill I picked was sense of humor because he had a good sense of humor and a good personality toward other people it seems like.
Brianna Waggoner
The life skill I learned from doing this project was trust. People of America had to trust Lincoln with their lives and their country. Lincoln had to make hard decisions for America. He needed to make sure the decisions were the right ones because he didn’t want to let his country down. Lincoln had a lot of responsibilities as a president. His job was to make America a safe place.
Nory Sibri Carmona
I drew it because Lincoln was in the time of Civil War.
Alana Kaye Collier
This picture shows responsibility, trust, and effort. It shows how he was trusted with big things and small. Use your best effort and be strong and brave like Lincoln
Audrey Wenta
I used Lincoln’s flexibility to create this piece. I know he was not actually that flexible. Abe Lincoln’s flexibility was the ability to compromise and other things. I just decided to add a humorous twist by actually making him flexible. I decided to use this life skill because the moment I looked at this option I knew exactly what I was going to draw.
Cesar Villalobos
The life skill I used for this piece was humor. I made Lincoln on a stage but it was no normal stage, it was a stand-up comedy stage. When I chose the life skill humor I didn’t really know what to make so when I made the face on the paper the idea came to me. So I started to come up with more detailed ideas like the floor and the bricks with a little shading. I really enjoyed doing this art piece.
